WHY THIS WAY? creates explanatory documentaries about the invisible systems behind everyday life. This website describes the private, creator-controlled integration used to upload videos to the WHY THIS WAY? YouTube channel.
What does the integration do?
It authenticates the channel owner through Google OAuth, confirms the correct YouTube channel, and allows an automated production pipeline to upload creator-approved videos and related metadata, including titles, descriptions, thumbnails and subtitles. It can check a video's processing status. It does not offer sign-in or video publishing services to the general public.
How is authorization handled?
Only the channel owner authorizes the Google connection. The pipeline uses a securely stored refresh token to obtain short-lived access tokens. Credentials are kept in restricted GitHub Actions secrets, not displayed on this website. The system keeps a publication receipt to prevent duplicate uploads.
Your privacy matters
We request access to the YouTube features needed for creator-directed publication. No Google account data or OAuth credentials are sold, and access can be revoked through Google account security settings. See the complete policy for data handling and contact details.
